What is a “new generation” employee and how to appeal to them?

The term “new generation employee” can mean different things to different people. Generally speaking, however, new generation employees are those who are comfortable with and interested in using new technology, who are willing to work in a more collaborative way, and who value work/life balance. Additionally, new generation employees tend to be more global in their perspective and more open to change than previous generations of workers. So how can companies set themselves up to be attractive to the new generation employees?

1. Be open to change: The new generation of employees is used to a rapidly changing world, so companies need to be open to change as well if they want to attract and retain them.

2. Encourage creativity and innovation: The new generation is very creative and innovative, so companies need to create an environment that encourages these qualities.

3. Focus on work/life balance: The new generation values work/life balance more than previous generations, so companies need to offer policies and benefits that help them achieve this balance.

4. Make use of technology: The new generation is very comfortable with technology, so companies need to make use of it in order to attract and retain them.

5. Provide opportunities for growth: The new generation of employees is ambitious and wants to grow within their careers, so companies need to provide opportunities for them to do so. This could include things like tuition reimbursement, mentorship programs, and opportunities to learn new skills.

6. Create a culture of diversity and inclusion: This means valuing different perspectives and backgrounds and making sure everyone feels like they belong.

7. Be transparent: The new generation values transparency, so companies need to be open and honest in their communication with employees.

8. Sustainability driven: The new generation is very interested in sustainability, so companies need to make sure they are doing their part to be environmentally and socially responsible.

9. Sharing economy: The new generation is comfortable with the sharing economy, so companies need to make use of it in order to attract and retain them. The new generation of employees is very different from previous generations, so companies need to adjust their policies and practices accordingly if they want to appeal to them.
